What is Human Growth Hormone?

Human Growth Hormone (HGH), a peptide hormone with 191 amino acids, is a large, complex molecule secreted by the anterior pituitary gland (located in the brain) into the bloodstream. Most HGH produced by the pituitary gland is produced at night during Stages III and IV of sleep cycle.

When we’re young, HGH helps fuel growth and maintain tissues and organs throughout life. As young as 21 years of age, the pituitary gland slows, meaning less HGH is produced. And as we age, our sleep quality decreases, which also helps slow the production of HGH.

Reduced HGH levels also affect the liver, which produces the hormone Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). IGF-1 stimulates systemic body growth, and has growth-promoting effects on almost every cell in the body, especially skeletal muscle, cartilage, bone, liver, kidney, nerves, skin and lungs. So if HGH production is reduced, so is the secretion of IGF-1.

And because HGH is only available through doctors via a daily injection, it is important to find ways to help the entire endocrine system so that it can continually produce these important hormones. Specialized nutraceutical formulations that help increase HGH production are a viable alternative that are all natural and safe for the body and offer scientifically-proven benefits.
